The view from the upstairs deck stops people mid-sentence. Burleigh Head National Park to the left, Surfers Paradise skyline to the right, surf breaking directly below. This is a working surf lifesaving club with a proper restaurant attached, and locals have been eating here for decades. Breakfast is the move: the eggs benny with bacon draws consistent praise, and the $19.90 breakfast special is exactly the kind of honest value that's getting harder to find on the Gold Coast. Service is friendly without fuss, and the help-yourself water, cutlery, and condiments set the tone. One reviewer put it plainly: Burleigh Pavilion without the pretentiousness. Worth knowing: the building is mid-renovation as of early 2026, so the entrance takes a moment to find. Book ahead in peak season.
Spotted a sign for a breakfast special for $19.90 and decided it was worth a punt. Firstly, we weren't even sure if it was open and it was tricky finding the entrance as the building is covered in tarpaulin and scaffolding at the time of writing, February 2026. I'm sure the renovations will look amazing when the exterior upgrade is finished. Lovely open space for dining. Plenty of mostly clean, clear tables. It was very quiet when we were there, 10am on a Tuesday morning, so we had our pick of spots. Fantastic view of the beach from the deck as well as Burleigh Head National Park and Surfers Paradise skyline in the distance, with cooling ocean breezes. The veggie brekkie was very satisfying and although the breakfast special didn’t look that special, I'm reliably informed it was good! Overall, good breakfasts to set you up for the day and good value for money.
Being a GC local, I have eaten here for breakfast, lunch or dinner numerous times over decades. Mostly worth 4 stars. The view is well 5 stars. Service always friendly. The food between 5 and 3 stars over the years. They have water and sparking water on tap for dinners at a help yourself area. Cutlery, salt and pepper and napkins are also help yourself. Recommend booking in peak holiday times. Elevator access from front door or stairs.

Burleigh Heads
Named after the naturalist who first bred platypus in captivity, this compact Burleigh Heads wildlife park punches above its size. Naturalistic habitats, knowledgeable staff who actually stop to talk, and a bird show worth timing your visit around.

Currumbin Valley
Dark water, slippery rocks, and kids absolutely loving every second of it. Currumbin Rock Pools in the valley offer shallow wading for little ones and a deep main pool for braver swimmers. Picnic facilities on site, café across the road. Go on a weekday.

Most visitors drive straight to the beach and miss everything else. The Gold Coast's southern suburbs and hinterland hold a different kind of destination: a pastry café by a creek, a wildlife park that beats the famous one, rock pools the tourists haven't found yet, and a heritage-village spa that locals guard quietly. Here is the list.
Three days in the Gold Coast Hinterland, done properly. This itinerary runs from Currumbin Valley rock pools to Springbrook rainforest to Beechmont estate dinners, with every stop worth the detour. Autumn is the best time to do it. Here is the day-by-day plan, including where to stay, what to book in advance, and which road to take home.
Christmas in the Gold Coast Hinterland means cicadas instead of carols, a cold swim before lunch, and a summer heat that demands a plan. From Currumbin Rock Pools to alfresco dinners on the creek, here is how to spend the festive season in the subtropics. Book accommodation now. It fills faster than you think.
The upstairs area overlooking the beach is fabulous. Great view matched by a great breakfast. Service was friendly and attentive. Ordered the Eggs Beny with bacon and a sausage - perfect. An excellent follow up to a morning in the surf and good value. Coffee good.
We had a great meal and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was delivered quickly and was very enjoyable. All staff members that we interacted with were friendly.
I love this place for its open air view of the surf. I always stop in for a coldie on the verandah. If I can get a table at the front, the middle isn't so bad either. I liken it to Burleigh Pavilion without the pretentiousness. #chompchompchomp8
Springbrook
A 350-metre walk through rare Gondwanan rainforest opens onto a panoramic view that stretches, on a clear day, almost to Byron Bay. No facilities, no fuss. Bring a layer, arrive early, and sort out your bathroom stop on the drive up.
