Springbrook · Activities & Tours

On a clear day, you can almost see Byron Bay from here. That's the pitch, and it delivers. Best of All Lookout sits at the top of Springbrook National Park, where a short 350-metre walk through cool temperate Gondwanan rainforest, one of the few remaining in south-east Queensland, opens onto a panoramic sweep of rolling ranges that stops most people mid-sentence. The path is bitumen, gently graded, and manageable for older visitors, though a few steeper sections warrant taking your time. No toilets, no cafe, no facilities. Bring water, sort out your bathroom situation before you arrive, and pack a layer because the temperature drops noticeably as you move through the canopy. Come early morning or late afternoon on a clear day. Winter fog can close the whole view down entirely. Keep an eye out for Albert's lyrebird on the walk in.

Are rare opportunity to see cool temperate gondwanan rainforest in south east qld with an unbelievable view! Keep an eye out for the elusive Albert's lyrebird among other rare rainforest species. Best enjoyed early morning or late afternoon on a sunny day. If its cloudy come anytime 😊 short 350 meter eay walk! Enjoy🌿⛰️
The walk to the lookout was pretty easy, even for my elderly mother. It was chilly as we passed through the thick first forest but we really didn't know what we were in for. The view is phenomenal! We enjoyed some time to take it in and some kind visitors took a group shot for us. There's a bench at the lookout if you want to sit and enjoy. No facilities around that I can recall, but there's ample parking.
I have been visiting this spectacular very high Look Out over the past 35 years. And sadly over time climate change is slowly making this beautiful rainforest dryer. It used to be buzzing with wild life and lots of Lyrebirds singing through out the day and big wild plant gingers as green as the next day. And the Staghorns and Elkhorns are slowly twiddling. The trees and ground cover is still very green. You will get some very good photos along the pathway. After heavy rain, the rain forest smells so fresh. When you get to the Lookout, the March flies will love you. I took my 88 year mum up there today being 7-11-2025. There is a bottom 🚗 park. But being a week day in the off season. You can park close to the start of the pathway. It is a skinny bitumen pathway, I would not recommend it for a wheelchair or someone with a walking disability. Some sections are a little bit steep. We just took our time of course. With plenty of breaks, there and back. My old mum, Even had a bush Pee. I guess when you’re that age. If you got to go, you got to go. On a clear day you can almost see Byron Bay. There are no toilets here, so take note on your way here. Where there are amenities on the beautiful drive up here. Bring provisions and drinks. If you’re coming on the weekends, get here early. Because there is a lot of traffic up and down. Sometimes in winter it can get really foggy. And you can’t see sht. If you’re looking for some where to have a swim and a picnic. I highly recommend Bochow Park in the Numinbah Valley. Clean Amenities, big monkey bars area for the kids, free gas BBQs. Heaps of room to kick a ball and plenty of room for the dogs to run around. There are tables and chairs, but they are normally taken. So bring camp chairs or a blanket. On weekends, sometimes you have to park on the side of the road as it’s very popular on warm summer days. In the evening for an hour or so. The insect noisey critters are loud as. Or of a night, go to the Natural Bridge, which is spectacular and loud after heavy rain. Bring a torch on a very good pathway walk through the rainforest and check out the Glow worms in the big cave. It’s a beautiful mystical walk listening to the natural spring water coming down the mountain at night. Don’t forget the mosquitoe spray for your body. Or Flutterbies Cafe in Tyalgum or the beautiful Tyalgum hotel beer garden. That also has a big inground pool for the kids. Just over the border, also a very picturesque drive. I also recommend Albert River Wines. Teakwood Cafe Burringbar. The Tea House at Binna Burra. The Paddock Estate restaurant. On beautiful rolling green hills. Fine Dining at Beechmont. You have to book in advance. When we drove in there to have a look on Christmas Day. They were open, and the car park was full. And all the young men and their partners were dressed to impress. Air Conditioning. Also with plenty of accommodation. On beautiful rolling green hills, in a quiet farming district. Other places of interest I recommend, Tallebudgera Valley rock pools. Currumbin Valley rock Pools.
Breathtakingly beautiful. Visually stunning Tranquil Amazing bird sounds The temperature drops significantly as the walk goes deeper into the path-grateful I took a jumper
Best of All Lookout truly lives up to its name. The sweeping panorama of rolling mountains stretching into the endless sky was utterly breathtaking. Standing there, embraced by the vastness of nature, I felt as though I had stepped into another realm — so serene and enchanting that one could almost imagine living amongst the hills like a woodland spirit. An unforgettable and magical place, well worth the journey.

Springbrook
You walk directly behind the waterfall, not past it. The Twin Falls Circuit winds through Gondwana Rainforest to a shallow swimming hole at the base of a small cave. Two trail options, cold water, and considerably fewer crowds on a Tuesday morning.

South Murwillumbah
The recreation of Margaret Olley's Paddington studio alone justifies the drive to South Murwillumbah. Add rotating exhibitions, Tweed Valley views, and a free guided tour from volunteers who genuinely know the collection, and this is one of the region's most rewarding afternoons.

Natural Bridge, Springbrook National Park
Natural Bridge
A basalt cave where a waterfall drops through a hole in the roof and glow-worms light the ceiling after dark. The 1km rainforest loop is easy enough for toddlers, spectacular enough to bring everyone back for the night walk.
