The dogs hit the water before the kids even find the skate park. Pizzey Park is a sprawling Gold Coast sports precinct on the edge of a river, and it does a lot of things well: off-leash dog swimming, walking trails, barbecue areas, fishing off the banks, and enough sporting fields to cover soccer, rugby, netball, athletics, and more. The vibe is genuinely community-first, busy on weekends but spacious enough that you can still find a quiet picnic spot under the trees. The skate park draws a crowd, though reviewers note it can get chaotic. The fishing is an underrated drawcard: pull pest fish from the river and you're doing the ecosystem a favour. Come early on weekdays if you want the dog park to yourself.
Definitely the best dog park in Miami. You can let your dog off leash, go for a run with them, and if they like water, they'll swim in the pool and then play with the birds around. The view is peaceful and beautiful. The forest is spacious and charming. There aren’t many people, so you can relax and even enjoy a nice picnic with your family. Totally recommended.
There was an off-leash park where dogs could play, along with a beautiful river and trees. Just looking at the scenery was so wonderful and healing. The walking trails and the barbecue area were amazing, and I am sure I will go back again!
Great park that has an abundance of things to do! Events are held there all the time. It’s a shame the skate park is turning into a place where in controlled kids run wild.

Currumbin Valley
Dark water, slippery rocks, and kids absolutely loving every second of it. Currumbin Rock Pools in the valley offer shallow wading for little ones and a deep main pool for braver swimmers. Picnic facilities on site, café across the road. Go on a weekday.

South Murwillumbah
The recreation of Margaret Olley's Paddington studio alone justifies the drive to South Murwillumbah. Add rotating exhibitions, Tweed Valley views, and a free guided tour from volunteers who genuinely know the collection, and this is one of the region's most rewarding afternoons.

Very cool with so many activities around. The dogs love the water and freedom of the dog park.
As well as being a sport centre and dog friendly place, it is a top fishing spot. Do yourself a favour and pull some pest fish out of pizzey.
Burleigh Waters QLD
Fifty-plus interconnected trampolines, a three-tiered Cliff Jump, and a ninja obstacle course that will genuinely wear kids out. The Flight Academy on Tuesday evenings is the sleeper hit for anyone wanting to learn real trampoline technique from instructors who know what they're doing.
