The track around the headland takes maybe forty minutes, but most people stretch it to twice that. Surfers carve up the break below, lizards sun themselves on the rocks beside you, and the path cuts between open ocean cliff edges and pockets of dense coastal rainforest. It's a genuine contrast in a short distance. The walk is well-maintained and not particularly demanding, which means you'll share it with everyone from trail runners to grandparents. Cultural markers along the route acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land. When you come around to the Burleigh side, you can push up to the summit or head straight for a cold beer at one of the nearby spots. The signs do warn about falling rocks along sections of the trail, worth noting if you're inclined to linger beneath the cliff faces.
If you have only 1 day in Gold Coast, this is the nature you should never miss. Great views, relaxing hiking. Awesome!
A path leading through a beautiful coastline. Past white sand beaches and aboriginies traditional cultural monuments. Very pleasant walk.
Burleigh Heads National Park is absolutely beautiful. The walking tracks are well maintained, and the views from the headland are stunning — ocean, cliffs, and coastline all in one place. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, photos, or just relaxing in nature. Great for both locals and visitors, and an amazing place to watch the waves and surfers. Highly recommend if you’re on the Gold Coast.

Miami
A rocky headland between two beaches with unobstructed views north to the Gold Coast skyline and south along the sand. The walk up is short and steep. Sunset is the reason to come. The beach at the base is reason enough to stay.

Springbrook
A 350-metre walk through rare Gondwanan rainforest opens onto a panoramic view that stretches, on a clear day, almost to Byron Bay. No facilities, no fuss. Bring a layer, arrive early, and sort out your bathroom stop on the drive up.

The beach is forty minutes away and packed with families. Up here, it's cold water, green canopy, and a creek doing its thing. From the tannin-dark pools of Currumbin Valley to the calm waters below Burleigh's headland, these are the Gold Coast Hinterland swimming holes worth the drive, and the ones to skip when the water runs brown.
The Gold Coast doesn't have to be expensive. From free swimming holes in Currumbin Valley to pub lunches that won't embarrass you, the southern stretch of the coast is one of Queensland's better-value destinations when you know where to go. Here's how to spend under $100 a day and not feel like you're missing anything.
The hinterland is not just a couples escape. Wildlife encounters, rock pool swimming, trampoline parks, and family-friendly dining make it one of the Gold Coast's best days out for kids of any age. Here is how to plan it properly, in the right order, without spending the day in the car.
Three days in the Gold Coast Hinterland, done properly. This itinerary runs from Currumbin Valley rock pools to Springbrook rainforest to Beechmont estate dinners, with every stop worth the detour. Autumn is the best time to do it. Here is the day-by-day plan, including where to stay, what to book in advance, and which road to take home.
Nice little walk. Shorter than expected trail. The view was pretty good, with one view toward the North and another slightly further on the trail that looked South.
One of the best coastal walks on the Gold Coast. Take a swim in the creek- very safe. When you get around to the Burleigh side you can head up to the summit or go for a beer — suggest the latter. Good spot to watch the surfing. The signage does suggest you don’t stop en route — keep moving — due to the possibility of falling rocks. A bit concerning.

A 4.4-kilometre return walk through subtropical rainforest leads to a cascade dropping into Morans Creek. The track is easy, the canopy is cool, and weekday crowds are thin. The drive up Lamington National Park Road is the real adventure.
Autumn mornings in the hinterland are made for dogs: cool air, quiet trails, and creek water to wade in. But the rules here matter. National parks say no, so the real trip runs through Currumbin Valley, the southern beaches, and a handful of pub gardens that actually have room. Here is where to go, where to eat, and what to pack.
