At night, the cave ceiling turns into a bioluminescent sky, thousands of glow-worms lighting the basalt roof in cold blue. During the day, it's still worth every step. The 1km loop descends through subtropical rainforest thick with ancient root systems, wild fungi on damp trunks, and the sound of water growing louder as you approach. The cave itself delivers: a waterfall drops through a natural hole in the basalt roof, the roar amplified inside the chamber, bats flickering in the shadows at the back. The track is paved and manageable for most fitness levels, including families with young kids. Come after heavy rain when the falls are running hard. The toilets at the carpark are reliably grim, so plan accordingly.
After our stop at the dam, we arrived at the most iconic spot in Springbrook National Park: the Natural Bridge. We ended up spending quite a bit of time here strolling and taking photos because it is simply incredibly beautiful! The natural ecology is perfectly preserved, making it an absolute paradise for nature lovers. Comfortable Trails Through Ancient Rainforests: The paved walking circuit is exceptionally well-maintained and very comfortable to navigate. Strolling through the ancient subtropical rainforest, you are constantly amazed by the towering, massive trees with their intricate, ancient root systems reaching for the sky. If you look closely, you can even spot fascinating and delicate wild fungi growing on the damp tree trunks—the area is just teeming with life. A Masterpiece of Nature - The Cave Waterfall: The absolute highlight of the trail is the natural basalt cave, formed by millions of years of water erosion! You can first watch the powerful river cascading over the rocky riverbed from above, and then walk down into the cool cave itself to witness the water plunging through a natural hole in the roof. The subterranean waterfall creates a spectacular spotlight effect, and the roaring sound echoing inside the cave is truly powerful. Home to the Magical Glow-Worms: Although we visited during the day, the welcome sign at the entrance proudly highlights that this cave is a famous habitat for Australian glow-worms. At night, the cave ceiling lights up with a bioluminescent blue starry sky. It gives us the perfect excuse to come back for a night tour! If you want to experience the pure, unspoiled beauty of Australia's ancient forests, Natural Bridge is a flawless, must-visit destination on the Gold Coast!

Springbrook
A waterfall drops through a collapsed cave ceiling at the Natural Bridge, and at dusk the glow-worms take over. Purling Brook Falls, Twin Falls, and sweeping coastal lookouts fill out a day on the plateau. The mountain air alone is worth the drive up.

Burleigh Heads
The upstairs deck at this Burleigh surf club has one of the best beach views on the Gold Coast, and the eggs benny won't set you back. Honest food, friendly service, and none of the attitude you'd cop elsewhere on the strip.

Fantastic site. Good amount of parking at the site. Route down is clearly signposted and follows a well maintained track. The waterfall is really impressive and the walkway into the caves gives you access to see the bats flittering about. Nice opportunities to take photos. Well worth a stop
Absolutely gorgeous! The hike is great and easy to complete. We saw a few families, even with toddlers, who were able to complete the hike without much help. It’s a beautiful place in nature and, surprisingly, wasn’t busy at all! Little tip: you can see little bats flying at the back of the cave during the day, and glow worms at night.
A beautiful walk down, lovely lush green quite a bit of stairs too. Best time i would say to go is after the main rainfall time so waterfalls and streams are full and flowing.... but beautiful non the less.
Fairly gentle walk through to the falls. There are stairs though, both up and down but mostly ramps. Toilets are available but be warned they are pretty horrible. Extremely unclean and rubbish left in them. 🤢🤮 Once you get to cave it's beautiful (very loud)

A 4.4-kilometre return walk through subtropical rainforest leads to a cascade dropping into Morans Creek. The track is easy, the canopy is cool, and weekday crowds are thin. The drive up Lamington National Park Road is the real adventure.
