At $4.80 a plate, the sushi train at Honba is one of the Gold Coast's better-kept open secrets. The cheese salmon roll and scallop aburi are the ones reviewers keep coming back for, along with the crispy salmon skins and karaage chicken that somehow stays juicy where other places dry it out. The room is small and fills fast, particularly at dinner, where a waitlist is the norm rather than the exception. No frills, no fuss: just a tablet for ordering, a train running beside you, and miso soup on the table inside two minutes. If you're after the Spicy Sweet Soy rice bowl, the chicken portion alone justifies the drive. Arrive early or expect to wait. Either way, it's worth it.
Had a really great experience overall — the quality and presentation were on point. The aburi salmon nigiri was definitely the highlight: perfectly seared, rich, and full of flavor. The wagyu beef, however, wasn’t quite to my taste — but that’s just a personal preference. Service was smooth and the atmosphere made it even better. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try!
New favourite sushi spot and I’ll strongly consider driving from Brisbane weekly to get it. Our top recommendation is the Spicy Sweet Soy rice bowl. The amount of chicken is INSANE and all the gym goers would be satisfied. 15/10
Definitely one of the best sushi spots in all of Gold Coast. When you arrive and order your drinks, they’re on your table in under 30 seconds — a record! Your miso soup arrives in less than 2 minutes, and you have a train of delicious sushi running beside you, plus a tablet, and if you place an order, it arrives in under 5 minutes. Totally delicious, great service, fast, always clean, and very reasonably priced! Highly recommended.

Palm Beach
Pastries made on site daily at Tallebudgera Creek, with Marvell Street coffee and a Biscoff croissant that reviewers can't stop talking about. The chips are genuinely exceptional, the Portuguese tarts go fast, and the salted caramel milkshake is non-negotiable.

Currumbin Valley
A Currumbin Valley cafe with country-road ease and city-level coffee. The carrot cake is legendary for its size, the steak sandwich on sourdough earns genuine repeat visits, and the dessert counter will slow you down. Portions are generous, prices are fair, weekends are busy.

Just so good. They have their system dialed. Easy process. Get your number and wait outside. Then the inside line to build anticipation. Atmosphere is great and so so fast. I could not recommend more highly
This lovely little sushi bar has become one of my favourites on the Coast. Food is always fresh, staff are busy but friendly and even when there's a wait, the line moves quickly! Our must try menu items are the sweet and spicy chicken bento or bowl, crispy salmon skins, karaage chicken (so succulnt and not dry like other places) and basically any sushi train sushi (cheese topped salmon and salmon with onion are stand outs)!! We love picking things off the menu or sushi train - makes the whole process very easy and $4.80 per plate makes it an affordable lunch option (hence why it's always popular, even on weekdays for lunch).
Mermaid Beach
The chicken karaage croissant alone justifies the detour to Mermaid Beach. Bam Bam Bakehouse does all-day brunch with serious pastry credentials, Single O coffee, and a menu that roams from açai bowls to green tea noodles. Bright room, relaxed pace, good baked goods to take away.
