If you’re in Gold Coast and you truly love good sushi, Honba is a place you absolutely need to try 🍣✨ Honestly, I can say it’s some of the best sushi I’ve had in the entire area. 🫶 From the moment you arrive, you can tell it’s a simple, no-frills spot that focuses on what really matters: the food. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, which gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. It’s not a big, fancy venue — it’s more intimate and relaxed, which makes the experience feel authentic. That said, because the space is quite small, it fills up quickly, especially during peak hours. Reservations aren’t necessary, but I definitely recommend arriving early if you don’t want to wait for a table. Now, the most important part: the sushi. The rolls are absolutely delicious. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, well-prepared, and balanced. The rice is perfectly cooked, the fish is fresh, and the flavors really stand out. These aren’t the kind of rolls that fall apart or feel overloaded with rice — the proportions are just right. You can really tell that quality ingredients are being used, and that care goes into the preparation. Another big highlight is the pricing. Compared to many other sushi spots around Gold Coast, Honba offers very reasonable and accessible prices for the quality they deliver. It’s one of those rare places where you feel like you’re getting excellent value for your money. The portions are generous, and you leave feeling satisfied without feeling like you overspent. Perfect for a casual dinner, a quick sushi craving, or even a relaxed meal with friends. The service also deserves special mention. The staff is friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Even when the place gets busy, they maintain a positive attitude and keep things running smoothly. That kind of service really enhances the overall experience. Overall, Honba is a small and cozy spot with standout flavor and quality that truly makes it one of the best sushi experiences in Gold Coast. This lovely little sushi bar has become one of my favourites on the Coast. Food is always fresh, staff are busy but friendly and even when there's a wait, the line moves quickly! Our must try menu items are the sweet and spicy chicken bento or bowl, crispy salmon skins, karaage chicken (so succulnt and not dry like other places) and basically any sushi train sushi (cheese topped salmon and salmon with onion are stand outs)!! We love picking things off the menu or sushi train - makes the whole process very easy and $4.80 per plate makes it an affordable lunch option (hence why it's always popular, even on weekdays for lunch).
