The avocado on toast with halloumi has a following here, and once you've had it watching the sun come up over Mermaid Beach, you'll understand why. BSKT has been feeding the Gold Coast's health-conscious crowd since 2013, and the formula holds: a menu that covers vegan, gluten-free, keto, and paleo without feeling like a compromise, served across a sprawling mix of indoor tables, outdoor patio, and curbside spots. The Byron Bay Hallowed Salad and the Spiced Tofu Poke Bowl both earn their place. Coffee is reliable, smoothies are fresh, and brunch for two lands around $70. Service is generally warm, though a handful of reviews suggest the ordering system can occasionally misfire. The kids' playground out the back makes it a genuine family stop. Skip the WiFi and order at the counter to avoid any confusion.
We used to go to BSKT old venue close to the beach which is now closed. We decided to try the new venue which was a nice surprise at it is a different set up. The undercover seating area is a shared area to be used by the eateries which are part of The Oxley building. Very pleasant and breezy. The food is good and prices are reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed both our meals. We will definitely return when in the Nobby's area
We stopped into BSKT for the first time today and it honestly lived up to everything people say about it. The location is hard to beat: right next to the beach with a mix of indoor tables, outdoor spots, curbside seating, and even a kids’ playground tucked out the back. We started with mochas and an almond croissant, and both were solid. For mains we went with the Byron Bay Hallowed Salad and the Spiced Tofu Poke Bowl. You can tell they put real effort into the healthy side of the menu without making it feel boring, 5/5 in food and service. If I’m being honest, prices across the Gold Coast have crept up everywhere, and good brunch for two hitting around the $70 mark feels like the new normal. That said, the experience here makes it feel worth the visit. Good first impression, and we’ll definitely be back.

Currumbin
A balcony over Currumbin Creek, a lobster roll worth ordering twice, and a chocolate chip cookie that a professional chef called the best she'd ever eaten. Tarte Beach House takes bookings at the Currumbin location. Use them.

Robina
Waterside pub on the Robina lake with a terrace, cold taps, and a menu wide enough for any group. The portions are solid, the setting does the heavy lifting, and Tuesday quiz nights have built a loyal local crowd.

Currumbin Valley
The humidity has broken, the valley mist lingers until mid-morning, and the hinterland is at its most atmospheric. This two-day itinerary for couples covers rainforest cafés, serious spa treatments, creek-side dinners, and a float tank session that resets everything. Autumn 2026 is the time to go. Here is exactly how to spend it.
Christmas in the Gold Coast Hinterland means cicadas instead of carols, a cold swim before lunch, and a summer heat that demands a plan. From Currumbin Rock Pools to alfresco dinners on the creek, here is how to spend the festive season in the subtropics. Book accommodation now. It fills faster than you think.
The coffee is solid, and I’ve only dealt with lovely wait staff. There is tons of outside patio seating as well as an indoor space that’s overflowing with natural light and usually has windows open, letting in the breeze from the ocean which is just steps away. They also have outlets which is nice if you’re working. However, I’m rating this 4-stars because the WiFi literally never works and none of the staff ever seem to have an answer as to why. The attitude is generally “some days it works, some days it doesn’t.” If you’re looking to chat with a friend or read a book, it’s not an issue, but not a reliable place to get some work done if that’s your goal.
BSKT cafe is one of my go-to brekky spots. The food is always fresh and the portion sizes are perfect. I love the avocado on toast with a side of halloumi – it never disappoints. I’ve also had the breakfast burgers and brekky salads before, and they’re just as good. The staff are lovely, the location right on the beach is such a bonus, and the coffee always hits the spot – especially with a sunrise view.
Visited BSKT for the first time since relocating and it was an extremely disappointing experience. We placed an order and waited over 30 minutes with no sign of our food. When we politely approached the front-of-house staff to check on it, we were confronted and told we hadn’t ordered properly. I showed them the receipt as proof. The manager eventually came out and mentioned that orders sometimes get rejected, but then confirmed that our order had clearly gone through. Despite the mistake being on their end, there was no accountability, no professionalism, and not even a simple apology. A sincere “sorry for the inconvenience” would have gone a long way, but instead we were made to feel like we were in the wrong. Given the poor service and additional waiting time, we decided we no longer wanted to stay and requested a refund. Even then, the staff spoke to us as though we were at fault. Service has notably declined since relocating. Need to step up your game or you’re going to lose your loyal customers.
Tortoises in the creek, coffee trees at the entrance, and a plant-forward menu sourced from local organic growers. The Earth Buckwheat Wrap is the thing to order. Sit outside, watch the water, and let the valley do its work.
