Set in 25 acres of subtropical rainforest in the Byron hinterland, Gaia is consistently ranked among Australia's best wellness retreats. A rolling programme of yoga, meditation, and spa treatments runs daily. The organic kitchen sources produce from the on-site garden. Accommodation ranges from garden rooms to private villas.
This was the best holiday I’ve ever had. I flew up for a self-care holiday for 3 nights. Everything was gorgeous- the staff, the food (vegan for me), the rainforest, mountain and ocean views, the activities (I did a very special private cacao ceremony) and the lovely nooks to sit and relax and reflect. There were so many special touches, like chocolate on the pillow one night, sunscreen by the pool, the yummy teas and snacks available any time. Thank you team Gaia for an incredible stay. I would love to come back.
I had a truly beautiful and healing experience at Gaia Retreat & Spa. The atmosphere is calm, nurturing, and deeply restorative. The workshops, spa treatments, and facilitators were exceptional and genuinely focused on holistic well-being, not just relaxation. The food was nourishing and thoughtfully prepared, and the entire retreat creates a very safe and supportive space to slow down and reconnect with yourself. The staff are amazing, friendly, and make the stay very special. I left feeling calmer, clearer, and deeply refreshed. Highly recommend for anyone seeking meaningful wellness and renewal. 10/10

Byron Bay
Just off the main strip on Marvell Street, Byron Medi Spa sits between a beauty clinic and a day spa, with medical-grade treatments alongside more familiar relaxation offerings. Upper-end pricing reflects the clinical focus. Better suited to a planned booking than a spontaneous visit.

Brunswick Heads
A wellness space in the quieter, less-trafficked end of Brunswick Heads. The Tweed Street address puts it away from the Byron Bay rush, which is half the appeal. Good for guests who want to stay local and slow down without crossing the bridge.

Byron Bay has more wellness listings than most towns have cafes. The hard part is finding the right one before your weekend is half over. This guide cuts through the field to find the best day spas and massage options in Byron, from hinterland luxury to central studios that fit around a beach day. With booking lead times, price reality, and honest calls on what to skip.
Byron Bay's ocean views range from a fine dining terrace directly above Wategos Beach to a free windswept lookout at the easternmost point of mainland Australia. This guide covers the best restaurants, accommodation, and experiences for every budget, with honest notes on what each view actually delivers.
December arrives in Byron and the town doubles in population overnight. Hot, humid, and relentlessly social, summer here is the peak of everything: the best beach days, the fullest restaurants, the most electric evenings. It also requires planning. Here is what to expect and exactly where to be.
Byron Bay has more yoga studios per capita than almost anywhere in Australia. The harder question is which one is right for you. This guide covers drop-in classes, day retreats, and multi-day residential programmes, with practical advice on styles, prices, booking windows, and what to bring. From a single morning session to a full week in the hinterland.
My stay at Gaia was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the thoughtfulness and care that goes into every detail of the guest experience. The team takes personalisation to another level, and everything from my schedule to my meals felt tailored just for me. The food was absolutely outstanding, nourishing, flavourful and beautifully presented. Every meal felt like a celebration of wellness and creativity, and you could truly taste the love and intention that went into each dish. The included group activities were also a highlight. There was such a wide variety to choose from, including yoga, meditation, pilates, cooking classes and nature walks, all run by passionate instructors who made everyone feel welcome regardless of experience. What really sets Gaia apart though is the people. Every single staff member was genuine, kind and committed to making guests feel cared for. A special mention must go to Bianca, the manager, who went above and beyond to make sure every detail of my stay was perfect, always with a smile and a sense of calm warmth. I also want to thank Annie, the gorgeous therapist who gave me the most relaxing facial and pedicure. Her nurturing energy and gentle nature made the experience deeply restorative, and I left feeling renewed inside and out. Rodrigo served our meals with such passion, care and attention. His dedication to ensuring every guest’s comfort and enjoyment truly elevated each dining experience, and his wine recommendations were absolutely fantastic. A heartfelt mention also to Renee, who led the Bliss Breathwork session. Her guidance was both grounding and transformative, and the tools I learned from that experience have been invaluable. I’ve found I can better manage my wellness at home thanks to what I learned during my stay. Gaia is more than a health retreat, it is a place of healing, connection and genuine hospitality. I left feeling rejuvenated, inspired and deeply grateful. I cannot wait to return.
I did a weekly stay there and found the whole experience incredible. The food was outstanding and staff were so friendly. It’s a beautiful spot to unwind or put some time back into yourself. I did hypno with Theresa which I really would recommend. Can’t wait to come back!
What a place and what an experience from the moment you drive through the gates it is pure bliss and all about you. Flexibility that caters for all the food amazing and such creative chefs, the spa amazing helping you unpack what you need at the time you need it and finally the room and facilities are amazing. Highly recommend this place if you need to turn off from the world but want to do it your way with a glass of wine as well
Byron Bay
A wellness studio tucked into the Porter Street complex, away from Byron's more tourist-oriented day spas. Local-facing and low-key, it's the kind of place that runs on regulars rather than foot traffic. Worth a call if you want something quieter than the main strip.
Twenty minutes from Byron's main strip, Mullumbimby runs at a different speed. A genuine working town with a serious organic food scene, independent shops, and a farmers market that locals actually use. If Byron is starting to feel like a resort, this is where you go next.
