Noosa Main Beach

CoolCabanas colonise every inch of sand by mid-morning, so the early arrivals claim their patch and the rest improvise. Noosa Main Beach faces north, which is why the water stays calm and shallow well out from shore — the reason families with young kids keep coming back, and why it reads more like a lagoon than an open ocean beach. The boardwalk running along the edge means you can move between Hastings Street's cafes and the water without ever touching sand. Lifeguards are on duty, flags are up, and the surf club sits at the western end with a front-row seat to the sea breeze. Parking is the honest problem here: the council is diligent, and the streets fill fast. Get here before 9am or come on foot.

What People Say
A Perfect Beach for Families and Beginners! Noosa Main Beach is an incredible spot, especially if you are visiting with children. Great for Swimming: The water is shallow and calm, making it safe for kids to play and perfect for swimming beginners to enjoy without any worries. Weather & Water Temp: It was a bit cloudy during my visit, but that actually made it more pleasant and cool to stay out. The water temperature was surprisingly warm, which was a nice touch. Facilities: The beach is well-equipped with main restrooms and indoor showers. There are also outdoor showers available, making it very easy to rinse off the sand after a swim. Overall, it was a fantastic experience where even the cloudy weather added to the cool, relaxing vibe. Highly recommended for a family day out in Noosa!
Noosa is a often visited upscale place with beautiful beaches and a vibrant nightlife. Great place for surfing too. The main beach is a place to see and be seen. Fantastic place. Prices are upscale too, as you may expect.
Stunning, stunning location! Got here early to set up for the day for an event. The beach started to fill quickly and before I knew it, CoolCabanas sprung up within every inch of sand. The water was calm and it seems this part of the beach would be very suitable for families with young children. Parking was a nightmare 😫 and be careful where you park as the council are waiting to take advantage to illegally parked cars. Clean beach, plenty of amenities, friendly locals and the surf club is in a beautiful location to take advantage of the beautiful sea breezes.
Nice and clean beach even when it was raining during our trip there. You don't have to walk in the sand if you don't want to since there are access to the board walk along the side of the beach. You can enter at different point to the main beach through cafe, shops from Hastings St. There's lifeguard on duty and information on the flags whether you can swim or surf. A number of resorts facing the beach for you to select during your stay here.
Nice beach for day time activities. Need to be there early for parking.
More Services in Noosa

Lake Weyba Foreshore Public Park
Weyba Downs
A flat lakeside loop with a suspension bridge, shallow water across most of the lake, and reliable south-easterly winds that draw kite boarders from across the region. Bring your own everything: no BBQs, no taps, no restrooms. Dogs and kites are the main event.

Lions Park
Noo Heads QLD
Free BBQs, calm canal water, and a shaded playground for the under-10s. Lions Park sits minutes from Hastings Street but feels a world away from it. The small sandy bank makes it the go-to for families wanting a quiet swim without the surf.

Sunshine Beach Dog Off Leash Area - Beach Access #29 and North
Sunshine Beach
Wide, exposed surf beach running north from Access #29 on Seaview Terrace, where dogs go properly off-leash into real ocean waves. The staircase is steep, the parking is tight, and the crowd of regulars is out early. Go before 6:30am to get the sand to yourselves.

Tewantin National Park
Tentin QLD
A short but steep trail off the old Tewantin-Noosa highway leads to a 360-degree lookout spanning Noosa to Teewah Beach. Go early, bring a picnic, and take the first viewpoint as a warm-up. The summit is worth the sweat.
