Two full-time gardeners tend the grounds here, and it shows. The Doonan is a hinterland pub that earns its crowds through sheer effort: sprawling gardens, mist fans cooling the outdoor areas in summer, a kids' playground with a bouncy pillow and cubby house, and a menu that punches well above the standard pub offer. Pizzas and mains come out of a kitchen that clearly knows what it's doing with quality ingredients. The wine list is small but considered. Prices sit at the upper end of casual dining, though a pizza and a glass of wine won't break the bank. Weekends get busy enough that parking can be a scramble. Book a late-morning slot if you want the space to breathe and the full run of the car park.

What People Say
If your are tourist at Noosa do yourself a favour and drive north to The Doonan hotel for a great venue and great tucker. You will get a huge great surprise on the ambience and design of the venue. Apparently 2 full time gardners tend to the extensive gardens here. Just to view the gardens is reason to attend this venue. Lots of space and great facilities for kids to play allowing mums and dads to sit and relax. Cubby huts, trampoline, bounce air cushion will occupy the kids time. Lots of seating and plant greenery everywhere. Lots of young staff who are attentive and do their job well. This is a very popular spot with music over weekends. Lots of space so dont feel squished in. Decent menu with reasonable prices. Entrees came out very quickly likewise the main meals very quickly. Highly recommend for the ambience and the food.
This pub is awesome! It’s beautiful, spacious, and the food is delicious. The kids had fun playing on the bouncy pillow and cubby house playground. The drinks were cold and refreshing, and there were water fans spritzing the areas outside to keep us cool. Great place and highly recommended!
Atmosphere was amazing. Parking was difficult due to how busy it was. The casual dining menu was limited to mostly pizza, salad or chips, no share plates or finger food options. Not sure about the restaurant as we never saw the menu.
Fantastic food and great service with a small but well chosen wine list great for casual dining and for that special occasion. Fine dining it isn’t but it’s definitely elevated gastronomy pub food, and I went with a family of fussy eaters and no one was disappointed. There were quality ingredients on the plate prepared by expert hands with both pizzas and main course menu items outstanding. It’s has to be said the place is stunningly beautiful and beautifully appointed, with attention to detail everywhere. And you have to I think take the stunning environment into account when it comes to the restaurant setting, as it definitely elevates the dining experience. Kudos too for making it a kid friendly, and by extension family friendly, place. Prices are on the upper end of the dining experience, but you can still have a pizza and a glass of wine and still have a chunk of change in your wallet. We are lucky to live in a premium tourist destination, and it’s good to see hospitality venues offering a premium dining experience.
We dined at The Doonan for the first time yesterday for my husband’s birthday and absolutely loved it. Our booking was 11am - 1pm and was perfect as it wasn’t too busy and plenty of car parking available. The food was amazing and I will specifically be back for the chilli coconut margarita! Kirra the bistro supervisor provided exceptional service, walking us to our table and letting us know how everything worked with a great balance of professionalism and humour. All other staff walking around were also amazing (didn’t catch names, sorry!) when we asked for extras like a highchair, tomato sauce etc - always bringing them to our table quickly with a no worries attitude. We will be back!

Woolworths Noosa
Noo Heads QLD
The Noosa Civic Woolworths handles the everyday grocery run for much of the area. Ask for Lorenzo in produce if you want someone who actually knows which avocados are worth taking home. Online delivery works well. Stock can be patchy in peak season.

Chip 'n' Mix
Noo Heads QLD
Build-your-own loaded chips on Hastings Street, with the Birria sauce as the standout topping. Fun in concept and genuinely casual in feel, though the price-to-portion ratio divides opinion. Good for a novelty lunch near the beach, especially with kids.

Sunshine Beach SLSC
Sunshine Beach
Cold beer, ocean views, and a lamb rump that earns its reputation. Sunshine Beach SLSC runs like a well-oiled machine: order at the counter, grab a window seat, and watch the Pacific while your food arrives faster than you'd expect. Register at the door if you're not a member.

Bang Bang Noosa
Noo Heads QLD
People queue before noon. The garlic chive miang and sticky pork belly are the reasons. Share plates, serious cocktails, and a feed-me banquet that earns its price. Book Thursday through Saturday well in advance or you won't get in.
