The Splash Zone water park is the real draw here, and on a hot Gold Coast afternoon, you'll understand why families keep coming back. Turtle Beach Resort sits on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach, a two-minute walk from Woolworths and a short stroll to the sand, with Surfers Paradise and Nobby Beach both within easy reach. The one, two, and three-bedroom apartments are self-contained with full kitchens and in-unit laundry, which makes a week-long family stay genuinely practical. The Deck bistro handles breakfast through dinner, and the pizzas get a consistent mention. Facilities run deep: multiple pools, an adults-only pool, kids club, putt-putt, tennis, and a cinema. Apartment quality varies noticeably across the property, so request a recently refreshed unit when booking, and check lift access if stairs are a concern.

Despite seeing mixed reviews of Turtle Beach, we were pleasantly surprised. Yes rooms are a bit dated but was clean and had everything you need. Showers were great and a bonus that two bathrooms for the family. Appreciated washing machine and dryer in rooms, heat pump worked well. Beds could have been a bit more comfortable. Nice quiet room and kids loved the pools, splash park was exciting for the kids until they realized how cold the water was, would be a five star if the splash park was heated water but I guess that depends on the time of year you visit. Kids really enjoyed kids club on the visit they had. All in all a great place to stay with supermarket, butcher and liquor store close by, highly recommend and would definitely return.
We recently booked a one-week stay at this resort as a family of four with two small children, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. The property was nowhere near the standard presented online. The resort appeared tired, poorly maintained, and far removed from the polished marketing imagery. Honestly, the photos used in advertising seem heavily edited and do not accurately reflect the reality of the establishment. After a brief walk through the resort grounds and an underwhelming lunch, we made the decision not to even check in and instead booked accommodation elsewhere on the Gold Coast. The location was also far from ideal. The resort sits on a busy road with very little atmosphere or surrounding lifestyle options. If you want to get anywhere worthwhile, you will be relying on Ubers or public transport constantly. What made the situation worse was the lack of flexibility or understanding from staff regarding the concerns raised. No refund or meaningful resolution was offered, despite the significant difference between expectation and reality. Both our family and extended family ultimately took our holiday spending elsewhere to other hotels on the Gold Coast, where we had a far better experience. I would strongly caution families against relying purely on the marketing material when booking this property. In our opinion, you can achieve a much better family holiday, with better facilities and better value for money, staying in Surfers Paradise or elsewhere on the Gold Coast.

Canungra
Lorikeets at breakfast, ancient rainforest trails out the door, and a spa waiting when you get back. Two hours from Brisbane, O'Reilly's has anchored the Gold Coast hinterland for a century. The setting does the heavy lifting. Come for the birds and the Box Circuit hike.

Miami
The pool slide earns its own mention in almost every family review. Villas have private BBQs, the Miami Marketta is a seven-minute walk, and buses to Surfers Paradise leave from the doorstep. A practical, affordable base for families who want to be in the middle of everything.

Old Florida at its finest! Stayed here 20 years ago on our honeymoon and back recently to celebrate our anniversary. Family owned and operated which made it such a nice stay. Very accommodating with deliveries and love that it is dog friendly. We stayed in the Country Cottage which has an incredible view with a private porch plus and private patio/dock over the water. We spent our mornings and evenings with coffee and drinks overlooking the bay. Thankful places like this still exist in an area that has become so popular.
My family and I have just spent 6 nights in a 3 bedroom apartment . We found it was a lovely stay. Great apartment , great facilities , the front of house crew were lovely and very helpful. The crew at the Deck restaurant were brilliant, great food and service, kids loved the pools and splash zone. The shuttle was great too get to the theme parks , and the driver is awesome ! All in all, bloody excellent! Cheers for the stay, we'll definitely be back in a few years
Great family trip. The resort is really well equipped with activities for the whole family. Customer service was excellent and we used the Turtle Bus for most of our transfers, which was excellent. Woolies nearby so that you can self cater. The on site restaurant and bar was very good too. Walking distance to other cafes, restaurants and bars too. Would highly recommend and also visit again.

Seventy minutes from Brisbane and several degrees cooler, Binna Burra Lodge sits above World Heritage rainforest in the Gold Coast Hinterland. The Sky Lodge balcony views stop people mid-sentence. The cafe beef burger is reason enough to ride out on a Thursday.
