Surf-focused fitness on Jonson Street, where the training is built around the demands of time in the water. Surfit Gym takes the Byron lifestyle at face value and structures its programming around it, with strength, conditioning, and mobility work aimed at surfers who want to perform better than they did last season. The Jonson Street location puts it close to the action, easy to hit before a dawn session at the Pass or after. Without review data to draw from, it's hard to call specifics on class quality or floor culture, but the positioning is clear and the niche is well-chosen for this town. Worth a visit if your fitness goals have a board under them.
Love the vibe of this gym. Not pretentious, great layout, reception staff are super friendly and helpful. Coded lockers and good stretch area. No towel rental though, have to buy one for $17. Vending machine for protein shakes. Clean well kept and centrally located above the Woolies. Awesome drop in casual visits too. Definitely recommend! 👍🏽
I travel a lot and I probably have visited over 200 gyms in my time. I have never seen a better run, better managed gym anywhere in the world. Everyone has a towel, everyone puts weights away, no one is doomscrolling whilst wasting time on a machine. People are there train not to catch up on their socials. Highly recommended if you are a respectful and serious trainer.
This gym has been a great addition to Byron. As a regular visitor to Byron who has a fitness passport, Surfit is a fantastic way to keep the routine going while travelling. It’s clean, well equipped and the users generally observe good gym etiquette. The only negative reviews about this gym are by people who either didn’t bring a towel or didn’t wear shoes. That tells you what you need to know.

Brooklet
Award-winning wellness retreat in 25 acres of hinterland rainforest. Yoga, spa, organic kitchen.

Byron Bay
Away from the main strip on Brigantine Street, House of Shemana takes a ceremonial approach to wellness. Treatments draw on ancient healing traditions and are designed without rush. The kind of place you go when you actually need to decompress, not just tick a spa off the itinerary.

Mullumbimby
On Mullumbimby's most quietly interesting food strip, The Banya brings a considered sensibility to the hinterland's casual dining scene. The name alone signals something a little different. Worth the inland detour when the coastal crowds get tired.
Great gym! Had a pleasant experience from start to finish. It’s quick and easy to pay for a day pass. Friendly staff member gave me a quick tour and rundown of the gym before I started my workout. Fellow gym goers all fantastic, lifting hard and focused on their workout instead of their phone! Well done Surfit in creating a space for people to get a good workout done without any hassles
I’ve been to a lot of gyms in my life throughout NSW for work, and this is one of, if not the cleanest and most aesthetically pleasing gyms I’ve ever visited. Staff were friendly and helpful, and machines were exceptional quality. Will absolutely be back and have recommended to many friends to visit
