The big green shed on Bayshore Drive is one of those Byron necessities that nobody talks about but everybody uses. Renovation project, garden overhaul, fence repair after the last storm: this is where it gets sorted. The Byron Bay store carries the full Bunnings range, from timber and hardware through to plants, paint, and the kind of obscure fitting you've been hunting for three weeks. Prices are what you'd expect from Bunnings: competitive, with the trademark lowest-price guarantee. The Bayshore Drive location sits close to the industrial estate, which means easy parking and none of the town-centre stress. Worth knowing: the garden centre stocks locally suited plants and the team generally knows their stuff when it comes to tropical-climate builds and coastal conditions.
I was disappointed during a recent visit to Bunnings Byron Bay to see a number of Wollemi pines in very poor condition — visibly wilted, dry, and some already dead. These are not ordinary plants; they are a critically important species that was once thought extinct, and they require consistent care, particularly adequate watering. When I raised my concerns with a staff member, and asked if he would water them (or if I could) I was told they would not be, and they would not be discounted and would simply be discarded if they declined further. That response was genuinely upsetting and felt at odds with the responsibility that comes with selling such a significant species. I hope Bunnings Byron Bay can reconsider how Wollemi pines are cared for in-store and ensure staff understand their importance and basic requirements. With proper attention, these plants should thrive rather than be neglected then wasted.
It's a small store which judging how busy it gets at times it should be bigger. However the cost of real estate in Byron is exorbitant. So finding a bigger piece of land is going to be fun. The young team members are at different levels of experience and are doing ongoing training to improve their service so yes, sometimes it's a mixed bag of trying to find any one of the tens of thousands of products on the floor. My experience is always pleasant with whoever serves me doing their best to provide a good service to me.

Where Byron locals actually do their weekly shop. ALDI on Byron Street keeps prices grounded in a town where groceries can feel like a luxury tax. Self-caterers, long-stay visitors, and anyone who'd rather spend their money at dinner than on pantry staples.

Byron Bay
Byron's full-size supermarket anchor on Jonson Street. Trolley-worthy rather than basket-only, with a deli counter and proper pantry range. The car park tests patience on weekends — weekday mornings are the local's move.

Byron Bay
Byron's main full-service supermarket, sitting quietly off Bayshore Drive near the Arts & Industry Estate. Better parking than anywhere near town, standard supermarket pricing, and the kind of reliable stock that makes self-catering in Byron actually viable.
Not the best on tech & handyperson expertise. Also - there were a few times I was on hold for about 40+ mins. But - they have a wonderful replacement & returns policy. Also gen friendly.
The most loveliest staff, i lost my car keys and they helped me look around the shop and assisted me with getting in my van. Also they left me a note and chocolate in my bag. So cute. Update to top it off, when i got back to my home, i found my lost key on the floor. How it got there i dont know.
Lucas Edgar Jackson😁, where do I even start. From the moment I saw him in the timber aisles I knew he was a valuable employee to this fine establishment 💰. Please keep up the good work. 🙏🙏
