Lawson Street gets busy fast, and Wide Open Road holds its corner with the kind of quiet confidence that doesn't need to shout. The name nods to the Melbourne original, and the Byron outpost carries that same stripped-back, coffee-forward sensibility into a town that can lean too hard on the beachy. No website copy to mine for specifics, but the address puts it squarely in the thick of town, a short walk from the beach and the morning foot traffic that defines Byron's café culture. Expect the kind of space where the coffee is the point, the food likely earns its place on the menu, and the crowd skews local-enough on weekdays. Worth a look if you're after something that doesn't try too hard.
Overall it’s a really nice place, portion size is big (that’s a good thing), and the vibe is great. There’s no wifi so that was a bummer but otherwise okay. Didn’t love the chai latte but that was probably on me (the ordering was very long and touched something i shouldnt have probably). Overall i liked it.
A lovely café in the heart of Byron Bay with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We had a strawberry matcha and a milkshake — both were super tasty and refreshing. The prices were fair, and the overall vibe made it a great place to relax and enjoy a nice break. Definitely a spot we’d recommend to anyone visiting the area
Fantastic place to grab a real good coffee and a bite to eat. Love it. The coffee is freakin good too and the people are lovely and inviting. Very chilled ambience inside and loads of place to sit.

Byron Bay
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.
Byron Bay's best breakfast spots fill before 9am on weekends. From the legendary banana bread at Bayleaf to a terrace table above Wategos Beach at Raes, the morning food scene here is worth setting an alarm for. A local-edited guide to where to go, what to order, and when to show up.
Byron Bay mornings run on good coffee, long tables, and banana bread that actually earns the reputation. Autumn is the best time to do it: the crowds have thinned, the light is softer, and the town's best cafes have room to breathe. Here are ten worth your morning, from the coffee purists on Lawson Street to the hinterland quiet of Possum Creek.
Byron Bay's food scene runs from working farms in Ewingsdale to fine dining above the sand at Wategos Beach. Here are the ten restaurants earning their place right now, ranked by quality, consistency, and the one detail that makes each worth the trip.
Came here for an afternoon coffee pick-me-up. Loved the welcoming and warm decor. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made a batch brew for especially for us. We were keen to take some beans home but unfortunately caught them on a restock day so only had a few options. We still took Shady Lane and Yoshimi home. The Ethiopian batch brew was juicy, bright, medium body and well rounded. We’ll be back 🤎
A lovely spot tucked away in a quiet alley. The coffee was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. A great option to escape the hustle and bustle of the main high street!
