St Helena lookout
Coorabell · Activities & Tours
(356 reviews)
The valley below opens up in three directions from this ridge on Coolamon Scenic Drive, taking in the Byron hinterland at its most unhurried. St Helena Lookout sits above Coorabell, high enough to catch the light shifting across the macadamia farms and rainforest canopy that roll toward the coast. No infrastructure, no café, no car park attendant. Just a pull-off on a winding road that locals use as a reset between Byron's bustle and the quiet of the hills. Come at dusk when the light goes golden over the ranges. The drive itself, along Coolamon Scenic Drive, is half the point. If you're already out here, continue through to Federal for a late lunch at the pub.

What People Say
Nice little spot for a break. Has a great view of Byron bay & Hinterlands, especially if you love the greenery and blue skies.
Gorgeous view, unfortunately the weather wasn’t great for me but I can only imagine on a good day.
A beautiful look out on the way up to Crystal Castle. There’s plenty of sealed parking available, a rubbish bin, and a place to pop your butts for the smokers… don’t be a tosser! Top tip: Take a packed lunch and park up to enjoy the view. For the romantics and anyone wanting an idea for a date, it would be a gorgeous spot to see the sun rise over the ocean.
Great lookout. Peaceful and serene. Close to Bex Hill, Bangalow, Lismore, Ballina. Amazing views of the mountains, ocean, green spaces - highly recommend you check it out if you’re in the area. Would be a great picnic or a romantic sunset spot
Awesome place to watch the sunset. Beautiful views of Byron Bay and the hinterland. Not much car park and no sitting areas. Just enough to stop by and enjoy the views.
