The pub that Brunswick Heads actually drinks at. Hotel Brunswick sits on Mullumbimbi Street doing what a good local hotel should: cold beer, straightforward food, and a front bar that doesn't try too hard. The kitchen runs casual — expect the kind of menu that makes sense after a day at the river mouth, priced for regulars rather than weekenders. The crowd reflects the town: families at the early tables, locals settling in for the long haul by seven. Brunswick Heads has largely avoided the Byron spillover effect, and the Brunswick Hotel is part of why the town still feels like itself. No reservations drama, no concept. Just a pub doing its job well in a town that still has room for one.
We stayed a week at Brunswick Heads and dined several times at this pub during our stay. Every time the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient, the meals were all superb, and even on the busy weekends where every table was taken, the wait time was minimal. It’s a grand old hotel lovingly looked after and evidently managed very well. Highly recommended.
Hotel Brunswick feels a bit like a fever dream—one of those strange, sun-soaked ones that doesn’t make much sense at the time, but lingers warmly when you think back on it. We arrived as a rootsy reggae-fusion band was sound-checking. Bass lines drifting, drums finding their feet, the whole place gently vibrating like it was waking up. Around us, the young, brown and beautiful aggregate in the humidity, seeking shade, and orbiting cool drinks and conversations in a loose, coastal choreography. Somehow, in the middle of all that, we ordered the broccoli salad. And somehow, it was genuinely excellent. Fresh, balanced, unexpectedly thoughtful. The kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and reassess your assumptions. It paired beautifully with blue water and too much sun. Nothing here is polished. Nothing needs to be. It’s loud, soft, chaotic, calm—often at the same time. Five stars. For atmosphere, surprise vegetables, and a place that feels messy in the moment but lovely in the remembering.

Byron Bay
A Latin-inflected bar on Fletcher Street with a name that promises warmth and late nights. It sits in good company on one of Byron's more reliable after-dark strips. Walk in without a plan and see where it takes you.

Byron Bay
The birthplace of Pacific Ale, Stone & Wood's Byron taproom pours fresh from the tank inside the working brewery. Industrial setting, cold beer done right, and a crowd that spans Friday knock-offs to curious out-of-towners tracing the source of their favourite can.

The Brunswick Hotel was an absolute vibe. Even though it was raining, the atmosphere was unreal — everyone was in such a good mood and the live band just lifted the whole place. We grabbed dinner and it was delicious, with really reasonable prices. The spicy mango margarita deserves a special mention — incredibly hot, but so yummy and totally worth it. Great music, great food, great energy. Loved it and would 100% go back.
Go here and soak it right up ya guts. Bloody tip top pub in the perfect setting right next to the Brunswick River. The beer is ice cold and extensive in choice, the grub is absolutely delicious, and the effort to put on and support the best local and international music acts is 2nd to none in the Northern rivers. A recent addition is a very fancy pokies room, and a bottle shop filled with a solid selection of neck oil. No review of the rooms as I haven't stayed, however if kept with the theme and diligence as seen with the rest of the joint, I'd imagine they're not bad at all. 9/10. Cheers 🍻
Our Australia Day lunch was at this fantastic spot that had perfect views of the water and a very busy funfilled celabatory space. We were fortunate to grab a table without making a reservation and sat outside under one of the many umbrellas. We ordered our food from the QR code on the table which made things a whole lot easier and the staff that delivered our food were great. The food was delicious with special mention to the tuna ceviche. I also had the prawn sandwiches and my wife had the brocolli and macadamia salad - everything was so fresh and flavoursome. Parking was difficult, although it was also a long weekend.
Byron Bay
Oysters and cold drinks on a balcony above Lawson Street. This is Byron's raw bar in the most literal sense: elevated, unfussy, and well-positioned for watching the evening unfold below. Mid-range pricing makes it an easy yes for a pre-dinner drink that turns into two.
