Right on Jonson Street, Byron's main artery, The Lord Byron Hotel puts you within walking distance of the town centre, the beach, and the better coffee shops without needing to think about parking. It's a straightforward hotel proposition in a town that often leans hard into the boutique-or-bust spectrum. Jonson Street is noisy at night, particularly on weekends, so a room facing away from the street is worth requesting at check-in. No reviews to draw on yet, which makes it hard to call on specifics, but the location alone does a lot of heavy lifting for anyone who wants to be in the middle of things rather than tucked away. Worth a direct inquiry about room types before booking.
We had an amazing stay here for 7 nights and honestly didn’t want to leave. The location is perfect, and the staff were absolutely lovely; so friendly, welcoming and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The rooms are fully serviced daily if you wish, and ours was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a balcony where we enjoyed our morning coffee, a large comfy bed, big TV, air conditioning, fast and reliable Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and a lovely bathroom with great products. Our room faced the back of the property, which made it very quiet. The hotel facilities were fantastic, especially for a longer stay; there’s a tennis court, a large pool area, BBQ and plenty of seating for families, free bike hire, and even a coin washing machine and dryer which was so handy. Upstairs there’s also a beautiful, shared space where you can sit, read a book and properly relax. I loved that the hotel is literally across the road from Jonson Lane, which has some of my favourite places to eat like Pixie, Light Years and Bar Heather, plus great boutique shopping. It’s also close to Woolworths and an easy stroll into town and down to the beach each day. We would absolutely love to come back and stay here again; not just for the location, but for the beautiful, friendly staff who really make the place special.
I stayed just before Christmas for two nights. This is the perfect location to stay at Byron. Everything is in walking distance making it the perfect place to stay if you don't have a car. The staff are lovely and will help you with anything. The rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The pool area is also a plus and the communal seating areas are also fantastic. I wish I could have stayed longer...

Wategos Beach
The only property sitting directly on Wategos Beach, Raes trades on position and a long-running restaurant reputation. Mediterranean in feel, small in scale, and priced accordingly. If you're going to spend up in Byron, the address alone makes a reasonable argument.

Byron Bay
Forty-five acres of coastal wetland, freestanding villas pointed at the trees, and private beach access. Elements sits deliberately apart from Byron's centre. The distance from the main strip isn't a drawback; it's the whole idea.

Byron Bay
Where you sleep matters. Byron Bay's best romantic stays range from freestanding wetland villas at Elements of Byron to the Mediterranean stillness of Raes on Wategos, with a few quieter options for couples who find luxury resorts exhausting. Here is the considered shortlist, from genuine splurges to smart budget picks.
Byron Bay accommodation runs from a dorm bunk near the lighthouse to a freestanding villa on forty-five acres of coastal wetland. The choice shapes the whole trip. Here is the full spectrum, by budget tier, with suburb context and honest assessments of what you are actually paying for.
I stayed with my sister and we both really loved it. The pool area is great. Specially for windy days. Has a BBQ area with all kitchen facilities, we just bought some bread and sausages from Brad the butcher next door and made yummy sandwiches. The room was beautifully decorated, has washing machine. Wonderful, kind staff, parking and 12pm check out... 10/10 - We will stay again for sure.
Feb26 Next door to huge renovation site. Monday 7AM they are banging and traffic noise by 6. Rooms are small (#1) nicely renovated. My room on the front row overlooking road and carport. Awful. Hotel is very old and shabby yet had face lick. Photos make it look a lot better. For the price I expected a lot more, “Lord” is more like rambling castle. I wouldn’t book again until construction was finished. Easy walk to main beach and stores. Rooms very clean and nice linen. Sliding door for fresh air nice yet get the street noise.
Loved The Lord Byron . This was our first visit and the reception was warm and very friendly . Loved the bathroom, Shower head was fabulous and our room was on the poolside. Decor was gorgeous . We were right in the centre of Byron which made it easy to get around . Accommodation prices were very reasonable. We visited in Nov so it was nice and quiet . I definitely will be going back and using the bbq and tennis court We loved the pool and the service we got using the QR code . The only negative thing I have to say is please oil the verandah door its very squeaky when opening and closing the glass door . I was afraid of waking our neighbours 😀
A laneway address just off Byron's centre puts Drifter within easy reach of the beach without the main-street noise. Pitched at the unhurried end of the market, it sits in a bracket that fills fast. Book ahead.
